I have now viewed "The Heist" (more than a few times.. ) and it is simply fantastic! I will break down what I thought about the key areas of the film but before that I must say this film is brilliant.
I love the writing, once again saying so much without speaking any words. The story is simple but with such elaborate detail. I loved how you gave us so much information just by the papers, photos, and writings posted on the wall. I could feel and see the humour, anxiety and excitement held by the main character. The Cinematography was also done exceptionally well, lighting and color in particular. The special effects were seamless and comical..really fitting the moments, esp. the three headed cat. How in the world was that done? wow..
The pace of the film is great too, it plays with audience expectations of plot length, and narrative evolution. ( we at least expect the criminal to get to the bank..)
Last area of the film I'd like to say something about is the soundtrack. It's fits well and does a great job of expressing the dramatics. It's mixed well, and showcases good dynamics.

This is a great example of what a short film can be. Its to the point, builds a great mood then BAM spins us into a new direction. All of the technical aspects are, of course, terrific, I'd love to know where you found some of that great set dec! (And did you get to shoot in the downtown RBC?) But what I am most impressed with is the visual storytelling. THAT IS CINEMA!
